"HOTBIN WORKS!"
HOTBIN WORKS!
I’ve had my Hotbin for around 10 years and have been consistently delighted with the results! The instructions for setting up and using the Hotbin were clear and easy to follow. I did have a couple of questions which were quickly resolved over the phone by their extremely helpful and knowledgeable customer services team.
I don’t like the idea of adding food waste and bones to my compost so I confine my ingredients to raw vegetable waste from the kitchen, shredded paper, cardboard, grass clippings (in moderation), green/brown garden prunings and wood chips. I have found that the actual quantities of each component do need to be varied over time, but that’s no different to ‘conventional’ composting. Cutting/shredding the material fairly finely does speed up compost production even further, so is worth the (modest) extra effort that entails.
My Hotbin produces excellent compost significantly more quickly than the 3-bay pallet-based system I also use and I’m delighted with the results. I mainly use the Hotbin compost in my poly tunnel to grow tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers but I also put it on my flower beds as a mulch. I’m thinking of adding a second Hotbin (a Mk 2 with the leachate collection system). I pleased to say that I haven’t experienced any of the rodent/vermin problems highlighted by some users.
In summary – Hotbin works! The results speak for themselves!

"A satisfied customer"
We have had our Hotbin for over 5 years, and are pleased with it. It takes all of our kitchen waste and much of our garden waste, and produces good compost. This morning the temperature outside was 5 degrees C - in the Hotbin the temperature was 40 degrees C. Higher Hotbin temperatures in the summer of course , particularly with grass cuttings.

"Hasn't lived up to expectations"
This product, in our experience simply does not work, we find it impossible for the bin to reach the temperatures suggested. It is far, far too expensive for what it does and we should have known better.

"For the price it's a waste of money"
For the price it's a waste of money. Can only get good heat in the summer. No matter what we have tried can never get it hot enough in winter. If a week of cold it doesn't get above 15 degrees. Best just make your own bin with wood.

"I have a small garden"
I have a small garden, so it is really helpful do have an enclosed bin that fits in a hidden corner and has no flies! The compost is excellent and quick and the worms love it.

"It’s amazing"
It’s amazing, the compost is gold standard as far as we are concerned. We get both liquid and standard compost both of which give excellent results.
It takes minimal effort to get started and well worth the waiting times. We are on year 3 will never look back!

"This is SUCH a good product"
This is SUCH a good product! I have to admit to being rather cynical when my husband announced he was buying it 3 years ago but its really rather brilliant!!! We put all our household peelings etc in it, grass cuttings leaves etc and have so much compost from it which is first class quality and produced much more quickly than we imagined. We are actually thinking of investing in a second one. Highly recommend.

"2 Hotbins"
I have 2 Hotbins and I empty them alternately. I've tried virtually every type of composer but Hotbin works by far the best, especially if I put garden waste through a shredder first. All dead matter from the garden goes in, plus uncooked kitchen waste.
